Yabo and Ruffo, The Brothers of Funstruction, quickly became a force in the National Wrestling Alliance tag team division. Adding Violent J of the legendary Insane Clown Posse as a manager only cemented that fact.

Not long after their debut, The Brothers of Funstruction targeted then-NWA® World Tag Team Champions La Rebelion, guided by Vampiro. It soon became apparent the onslaught was brought about by long-simmering tension between the leaders of each trio. A series of altercations culminated in a violent match at NWA Samhain, won by The Brothers of Funstruction.

With a clash between The Brothers of Funstruction and La Rebelion at Samhain still weeks away, tensions were running high. It proved nearly impossible to keep the seething hatred between Violent J and Vampiro from boiling over.
