OutSports Names NWA Star Pro Wrestling 'Personality of the Year'

NWA’s Pollo Del Mar was named pro wrestling “Personality of the Year” by OutSports.

It hasn’t been the easiest year for National Wrestling Alliance star Pollo Del Mar. She lost “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason to his pursuit of the National title and was ultimately  humiliated by the love of her life in front of a global audience at NWA 75.

Luckily 2023 closes on a happier note for “The Lovely One.” Del Mar was named pro wrestling’s “Personality of the Year” by OutSports in the popular media outlet’s annual, year-end, fan-voted “QWI Awards.”

“I grew up in the era of legendary pro wrestling managers,” Del Mar posted to X (formerly Twitter), calling the award a “true honor.”

“Without doubt, the ‘Personalities’ became as iconic as the wrestlers they guided,” the colorful diva concluded. “Someday I hope to be thought of with even a fraction of the reverence I have for my pro wrestling idols.”

For Del Mar, this is the third, consecutive victory in the category. The award comes on the heels of OutSports ranking Max the Impaler at No. 1 in its annual QWI 200 list of LGBTQ+ wrestlers worldwide.

The success of each marks a landmark year of representation in NWA.
