NWA POWERRR April 7th Recap: The Ten Pounds of Gold are on the line; Mike Mondo holds the Gutt Check Challenge; The Hex defend the Women's Tag Titles; and Markova defends the Burke in the Main Event!

This week's NWA Powerrr featured multiple title opportunities, including Bryan Idol officially cashing in the Lucky 7 for a shot at the 10-pounds of Gold, The Gut Check Challenge for the National Heavyweight Title, The Hex defending the World Women's Tag Titles, and Natalia defending the Burke against Liviyah.

Silas Mason takes out the Looks that Kill

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title Match

Silas Mason (C) def Bryan Idol

The show opened up with a massive match, as the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion defended his title against the Looks that Kill Bryan Idol.

Bryan Idol started off hot, showing that he was set to whatever it takes to leave with the 10 pounds of gold, and of course having the home field advantage in Tampa!

It didn't take long for the momentum to change in the match, after the Thrillbilly was able to hit a fallaway slam on Idol.

Bryan Idol was not going down without a fight though. He was able to regain the advantage in the match, after Silas attempted a top rope maneuver. Idol was able to catch him on the top rope and hit a massive superplex on the Worlds Heavyweight Champion

It was known this fight would get ugly, but as soon as both men were outside the ring, all bets were off!

Bryan Idol looked like he had the champ right where he wanted him, that was until the Southern Six came out to help Silas. Which led to a miscommunication and "friendly fire" between Silas Mason & Kerry Morton. Bryan took advantage, which then led to Carnage coming out and causing another distraction for Idol.

In the end, after the distraction from Carnage, Bryan Idol ran right into a ThrillRide, leading to the pinfall victory, and still your NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, Silas Mason.

A Triple Threat to decide who will answer the Gut Check Challenge

#1 Contenders match for the NWA National Heavyweight Championship

Hayden Backlund def Will Austin & Cristiano Argento

Our next match of the night a triple threat match to decide who will face Mondo in the Gut Check Challenge. We saw Hayden Backlund take on Cristiano Argento & Will Austin. Right from the start you can tell they all wanted an opportunity at NWA Gold, Will Austin especially was making the most of it!

Cristiano Argento began showing some offense of his own with an amazing Fisherman Suplex to Hayden Backlund, that almost got him the pinfall victory.

In the end, Backlund was able to apply the chicken wing submission on Argento for the submission victory and become the new #1 contender to the NWA National Heavyweight Championship....he didn't have to wait long though.

IT'S GUT CHECK TIME!

NWA National Heavyweight Championship Match

Mike Mondo (C) def Hayden Backlund

As soon as Hayden won, Mondo's music hit as he made his way to the ring to defend the NWA National Heavyweight Title.

It didn't take long for Mondo to get the upperhand on an already tired Hayden Backlund, landing a massive belly to belly suplex on Backlund.

Hayden Backlund did show fight and grit, refusing to tap out to the gut checking machine, no matter how many times the referee asked.

In the end, Mondo was able to keep the upperhand on Backlund, hitting gut check time to secure the pinfall victory and retain the NWA National Heavyweight Championship.

The Hex retain the NWA World Women's Tag Titles against TV-MA

NWA World Women's Tag Team Championship Match

In our next match, we saw the NWA World Women's Tag Team Championships up for grabs as the Hex defended the gold against TV-MA.

It was very evident from the start of the match that Gretta was going to be the "game changer" of the match with her size and strength. Allysin had a bit of difficulty moving her.

With Gretta giving the size advantage, La Princesa was able to have her way with Allysin. TV-MA seemed to have a strong control over Allysin.

But, once Allysin was able to find an opening, she tagged Marti Belle in and she was ready to fight as soon as she got into the ring.

In the end, Gretta was distracted on the outside, when The Hex were able to hit Hex marks the Spot on Tiffany Nieves to get the pinfall victory and retain the NWA World Women's Tag Team Titles.

Main event for the Burke

NWA World Women's Championship Match

Natalia Markova (C) def Liviyah

The main event of this week's episode saw the NWA World Women's Championship up for grabs as Natalia Markova defended the burke against rising star, Liviyah.

Liviyah didn't waste time to show that she was ready to make the most of this opportunity bringing the fight to Markova. Getting her locked in a Single-Leg Crab Submission

Natalia Markova was able to answer back with some offense of her own, paying homage to former NWA World Women's Champion Jazz, hitting Liviyah with a Jazz Stinger!

Liviyah wasn't going down without a fight, hitting a modified DDT on the champion and coming very close to securing a pinfall victory!

In the end, Markova was able to hit her signature dropkick from the top rope to secure the pinfall victory, and retain the NWA World Women's Championship. However, La Princesa made her way out to the ring afterwards with Gretta for a blind side attack on Markova. Gretta lifted her up, for a devasting chokeslam. Will we see a new NWA World Women's Champion soon?
