NWA POWERRR October 17th Recap! TV Titles are on the line; a new alliance off to a not so hot start; We hear from Colby Corino; the GIANT Gretta in singles action; and will Pope show Mims the light?
This weekend's episode of NWA Powerrr saw a lot of exciting action from the POWERRR sation. We heard from Colby Corino, saw both men's and women's TV titles up for grabs, the GIANT Gretta in single's action, a new alliance formed between Pretty Boy Smooth & Effy in tag team action, and in the main event it was student vs mentor as Big Strong Mims took on Pope.
Colby Corino says he wants a rematch against "The Climax" Kerry Morton
To kick off this week's episode, we heard from Colby Corino on his thoughts on his match with Kerry Morton at NWA 78. He stated that he didn't like how the match ended, and wasn't their to make excuses, and that Kerry Morton beat him. He stated since then he has been training and getting bigger and stronger, and asked Morton for one more match. It didn't take long for Mr. Climax to makes his way out to respond, with a new personal ring announcer.
Things started to get heated between the 2 of them, but things really began to go off the rails when Kerry Morton began accusing that former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Steve Corino was supportive of his son...Colby didn't take too kindly to those accusations!
Safe to say that these 2 will probably be back in the ring with one another sooner then later.
The Supreme Sirena Veil continues her reign as Women's Television Champion.
NWA World Womens Television Championship Match
Sirena Veil (C) def. Bobbi Thunder
In our opening match this week, Sirena Veil defended the NWA World Women's Television Championship against the debutting Bobbi Thunder. The Supreme was trying to end the match quickly, but the challenger had seemed to have done her homework on the champion!
It didn't take long for Sirena to regain the advantage in the match, landing a flurry of offense on her challenger!
The newcomer Bobbi Thunder seemed to not be going down though without a fight, as she started going on a redneck rampage!
In the end, it just wasn't enough to keep the supreme down, as Veil executed the blood bath on Thunder to secure the pinfall victory and her first successful defense of the NWA World Women's Television Title!
MZRY successfully defends the NWA World Television Title on NWA POWERRR!
NWA World Television Championship Match
MZRY (C) def. Tony Leyanda
In our next matchup, we saw the mens World Television Title on the line, as the Collection's MZRY defended against Tony Leyanda. It didn't take long for MZRY to get the offensive advantage over his challenger, taking to the skies against Leyanda!
It seemed MZRY just about had the match won....that was until Leyanda hit a back body drop on MZRY, sending him into the corner and nearly breaking the World Television Champion in half!
In the end, MZRY was able to recover, hitting a springboard cutter on Leyanda, followed by the Acid Splash from the top rope to secure the pinfall victory and retain the NWA World Television Title!
Effy & Pretty Boy get blindsided and are off to a rocky start
Axton Ray & Shawn Carlson def. Pretty Boy Smooth & Effy
Our next matchup saw the beginning of a new alliance as Pretty Boy Smooth & Effy took on Axton Ray & Shawn Carlson. Between Effy's Unorthodox but effective wrestling style, and Pretty Boy's hard hitting offense, this duo may just work!
Pretty Boy & Effy even had some offense of their own that were ready to show off, and seemingly had full control over the match!
It didn't take long though for NWA's newest signing Axton Ray to start showing off his athleticism and getting his team back in the match up.
Once Pretty Boy was able to make his way back into the match though, he became a one man wrecking crew.
It looked like Pretty Boy may secure this victory for him and Effy, that was until Big Ty came out and randomly attacked his manager, Pastor CLo, then Pretty Boy which led to Axton taking advantage, and rolling him up for the victory.
The GIANT Gretta makes quick work of Ruby Red in singles action
Gretta def. Ruby Red
In our next match up, we saw TV-MA's GIANT Gretta take on the debutting Ruby Red in singles action. and from the get go, you can see the massive size difference between the 2 of them.
Gretta remained dominate from the very beginning, and quick fashion, was able to hit Ruby Red with a flurry of offense, ending with her signature choke slam to secure the pinfall victory over the NWA newcomer!
Pope tries to show Mims the Light in the main event.
Mims def. The Pope via Disqualification
In this week's main event, it was student vs mentor as Big Strong Mims was set to take on his mentor The Pope! It seemed that the Pope believed this would be an easy victory, with him showboating a little too much, and then just being blaintly disrespectful!
Mims did not take too kindly to his Pope's disrespect and began kicking things into the next gear, not even giving his mentor a chance to breath for a moment!
In the end, The Light came out and began to attack Mim's leading to a disqualification. The Pope at first told the light to back off before helping Mim's to his feet...and immediately putting him on his back with a clothsline. It seems Pope has officially dropped Mims, but we can tell this feud is far from over.
Coming up on NWA POWERRR
King Trevor Murdoch the first has granted an NWA Powerrr match for Caesar Argento against his Royal Court, question is, does Argento have a partner?
It seems Thom Latimer is quite upset with NWA National Heavyweight Champion, Bryan Idol, is this something they'll be able to smooth over?
After what happened at NWA 78, is Kenzie Paige still willing to defend the NWA World Women's Tag Team Championships with her sister Kylie?
And Chris Nowinski makes an appearance on the Carson Drake Experience this week on Powerrr...but it got awkward quite quickly.
