Kerry Morton, alongside the Southern Six, makes their way to the ring at NWA 77.

NWA POWERRR delivered a strong episode this week, featuring the "King Bee" match to crown a new Junior Heavyweight contender, a major heavyweight clash between 2 men trying to climb the ladder in the NWA, and a surprising turn of events in the tag team division.

The "King Bee" Match: A Two-Stage Gauntlet

Stage One: 6 man Tag Team Match
Damian Fenrir, Luke Kurtis, & Spencer Slade defeated The Lost (Crazzy Steve, Lev, & Alex Misery)

The show kicked off with a unique, two-part concept designed to establish the next challenger for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship.

This was a clash of styles. Slade, Fenrir, and Kurtis—all focused on individual advancement—had to briefly form a cohesive unit to combat the gothic, chaotic style of The Lost (who were accompanied by Father James Mitchell). The match was a solid opening bout that saw the three ambitious competitors overcome the unpredictability of Father James Mitchell's The Lost. The win was less about teamwork and more about the three advancing men capitalizing on The Lost's occasional lack of focus.

Damian Fenrir win's the King Bee Match and is the new #1 contender to the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship.

Stage 2: Junior Heavyweight #1 Contender's Three-Way Match

Damian Fenrir defeats Luke Kurtis & Spencer Slade

With the immediate goal of a title shot on the line, the temporary alliance dissolved instantly. Spencer Slade used his technical, submission-based offense to try and neutralize the high-impact styles of his opponents. Luke Kurtis brought his athletic, quick-hitting moveset. However, it was Damian Fenrir who ultimately prevailed. Fenrir, who has been building quiet momentum, scored the pinfall victory, officially earning the right to challenge the current Junior Heavyweight Champion, Alex Taylor. The victory confirms Fenrir as a serious threat to the division's dominant champion.

Alex Hammerstone secures his first victory in the NWA at NWA 77.

High-Profile Singles Match: Heavyweight Clash

Alex Hammerstone defeats Kerry Morton

This was arguably the Match of the Night. The power and size advantage of the globally renowned Alexander Hammerstone met the speed, technique, and high energy of the young veteran, Kerry Morton. Morton, a current champion in the tag division, fought with the heart and fire expected of a second-generation star. Hammerstone, however, proved to be too much. The match was a highly competitive, excellent wrestling contest that showcased the strength of both competitors before Hammerstone secured the win. This victory immediately positions Hammerstone as a major player in the NWA's heavyweight picture.

Aron Stevens pulls the loaded glove to secure the victory at NWA 77.

Tag Team Upset: The Unexpected Duo

Aron Stevens & Carson Bartholomew Drake defeated The Holy Grail (EC3 & Pretty Boy Smooth)

This result was a major surprise. The Holy Grail (EC3 and Pretty Boy Smooth, accompanied by Pastor C-Lo) were major players in the recent Crockett Cup and are viewed as one of the top tag teams in the NWA. Aron Stevens, meanwhile, has been less active in the ring, typically filling a managerial/advisor role, and Carson Bartholomew Drake is a relatively newer commodity. Stevens and Drake managed to capitalize on The Holy Grail when Aron Stevens pulled the loaded glove while the referee was distracted. The finish was unexpected, giving Stevens the tag team victory alongside Drake. But I think it's safe to say that this feud is far from over.
